Managing Director PIA, Nadeem Khan Yousufzai in his farewell address to the airline officials at the Head Office impressed upon them that they must continue to be steadfast for turning around the National Flag Carrier here on Tuesday. Nadeem Khan Yousufzai thanked the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari and the Federal Minister of Defence, Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar for their support to the airline and the aviation industry in Pakistan and with their blessings PIA is destined to grow.
The Farewell Ceremony of the outgoing MD was charged with appreciation by the employees for his one year tenure in which he dealt with them in utter kindness and compassion to bring the airline out of the chaos in which he took over in February 2011. His approach towards the employees created a healthy management-employee relationship motivating the employees to work for the betterment of the airline beyond call of duty.
PIA successfully managed its difficult 62-day Hajj operation with its own fleet although there were many constraints as far as the fleet management, engineering and aircraft maintenance was concerned. However, the MD praised the engineering department for devotedly carrying out their work against many odds and kept the aircraft flying.
The MD emphasised that the incoming Managing Director Air Chief Marshall Rao Qamar Suleman (Retd) has tremendous leadership qualities and would prove dynamic in turning around PIA. He emphasised upon the PIA officers to welcome the new Managing Director PIA as change is always good and with his leadership qualities both the airline and its employees would benefit. The outgoing MD informed the PIA employees that Air Chief Marshall Rao Qamar Suleman (Retd) is expected to take over charge as Managing Director PIA on Thursday, (March 29).-PR
