Complete shutter-down strike was observed in industrial city as a mark of protest against the 18-20 hours load-shedding of the electricity, here on Tuesday, at the joint call of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Anjuman-e-Tajran, PTEA, PHMA and other trade organisations supported by the PML N leadership.
All shopping and commercial centers including yarn and cloth markets and textile industrial units remained closed while the angry mob burnt tyres and blocked the all entry roads. Stick-wielding protesters patrolled the area and shouted anti-government slogans and removed all hoardings and banners of PPP.
Shopping centres in eight bazaars around the Clock Tower were also completely closed, while bus and wagon stands were look deserted, where transport was not available for passengers and all city petrol pumps were also closed due to security reason. Intercity transport remained off roads. Only taxis and rickshaws were seen picking up passengers, charging extra money from them.
A big protest rally of industrialists and textile exporters was taken out from head office of Pakistan Textile Exporters Association, which was arranged by the All Punjab Textile Associations Council to protest against unprecedented, unscheduled load shedding of electricity, gas outage, increase in the prices of petroleum products, unfavourable doing business, unemployment, lawlessness, corruption, mismanagement and anti business policies of the present government.
This protest rally was led by Rana Arif Tauseef, Chairman, Pakistan Textile Exporters Association, Mian Aftab Ahmad, Regional Chairman, All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association, Qamar Aftab, Vice Chairman, PHMA North Zone, Khalid Mehmood Cheema, Chairman, All Pakistan Cotton Power looms Association, Shakeel Ansari, Chairman, All Pakistan Sizing Industries Association, Imran Mehmood and other officer bearers of trade organisation.
Another protest procession was taken out by the PML N workers. All Textile units including Power looms Units, Sizing factories, Printing Units and other ancillaries in downtown area remained closed while the business community and unemployed industrial workers blocked various roads by burning tyres on Millat Road, Mai-De-Jhuggi, Haji Abad, Jhang Road, Summundri Road, Dajkot, Satiana Road, D-Ground People's Colony, Jaranwala Road, Madina Town, Abdullah Pur, Mansoor Abad, Tariq Abad, Railway Road, Circular Road, Narwala Road, Jinnah colony, Ghulam Muhammad Abad, Raza Abad, Factory Area, Tata Bazar, Iron Market, Timber Market, Allama Iqbal Colony and Samanabad.
