The Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) claimed to have arrested seven suspects in a crackdown on Monday, who were allegedly involved in an attack on the 'Aalmi Mushaira' organised by Muttaheda Qaumi Movement (MQM) the other day. The LEAs conducted raids at Shah Rasool and Neelum colonies and arrested some seven suspects including a local ANP leader, Munir Khan. Moreover, a case was also registered on the compliant of ASI Abdul Ghaffar against the attackers.
Giving details of the attack, police sources said that one attacker namely Kamran alias Kami was killed by the security personnel, after he and his accomplices allegedly opened indiscriminate firing on the mushaira being held at Clifton area on late Sunday. Police claimed that Kamran was a worker of Awami National Party (ANP).
Some 12 armed riders tried to spoil the mushaira by resorting to indiscriminate firing but the police deployed at the venue retaliated and killed one of the attackers, while others managed to flee from the scene, they added. Meanwhile, the residents of Shah Rasool colony staged a protest demonstration over the killing of Kamran and the arrest of ANP workers. All commercial and social activities in the area came to a halt as unknown miscreants resorted to heavy firing.
