Expressing grave concern over plight of the countrymen, Chairman Jeway Pakistan Jeway Muqami Hakumat Danyal Aziz said on Monday that the government had failed to address the grievances of the masses. Commenting on the report of Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Pakistan, Aziz said the ADB's report had belied the claims of the government regarding development in the last four years and the notion that relief had been provided to a common man.
According to him, the report mentioned that there had been a dramatic increase in the prices of essential daily items that went up by 79 percent whereas the food basket's price had gone up from Rs 1000 to 1700 while new bills of Rs 3.8 million were printed in every month.
He said: "It is becoming difficult for a common man to survive, as utility bills are being revised and the prices of petroleum products have also soared. The loans that the government took from Pakistani banks have doubled over the years for which it has become mandatory to raise tariff of utilities which would eventually lead to further price hike," he added. He said that the businessmen were trying to invest their money in other countries which will create further unemployment in the country.
