Following the ongoing search operations in Lyari, scores of female inhabitants of the area while demonstrating sit-in protest at Football House announced to observe 7-hour hunger strike, daily till the suspension of these search operations. According to eye-witnesses, the protesters, who set up a camp at Football House located at Baloch Chowk, Kalakot, demanded to the authorities concerned to reopen the Football House as the same was playing vital role in promoting cultural activities in Lyari.
The protesters, who chanted slogans against law enforcers, alleged them to launch discriminative search operations in Lyari. They demanded to the authorities to kick-off the same in other parts of the metropolis, if they were reluctant to suspend these search operations in Lyari.
The protesters said, "at one side, our beloved ones are being killed in the city, however, on the other hand, the LEAs instead of arresting wrongdoers, nabbed innocent during search operations. They said these operations are not bringing peace in the city but creating problems for innocent citizens as they were detained and interrogated besides their families were also forced to pay handsome amount to the law enforcers for their release.
Following the deployment of heavy contingent of police and paramilitary rangers, the Lyari came to normalcy after four-day violent protests in support of banned People's Amn Committee (PAC). The supporters of banned PAC, who halted all commercial and social activities during last four days against the targeted operations and the nomination of PAC leaders in the murder case of Katchi Rabita Committee (KRC) leader Abdul Rasheed Katchi, went in their hideouts after the deployment of heavy contingent of law enforcers.
