Pakistani students break world's largest canvas painting record

To mark the Pakistan Day, Pakistani students broken the Guinness world record on Friday by painting world's largest canvas and the theme of the canvas was to paint the national flag. A painting of Pakistani flag measuring almost 42,000 square feet was made on a canvas by 1,300 male and female students at National Hockey Stadium Lahore.
The students have set a world record by breaking a previous record of 34,000 square feet painting created in Nigeria. Students from different educational institutions took part in painting the huge flag of Pakistan. The event was organised by Message Welfare Trust, a youth based organisation that has been holding street art competitions for the last three years to discourage wall chalking, and supported by the Sports Board Punjab.
It may be recalled that a 350-member Nigerian team that painted a 34,000 square foot canvas in 2010 currently holds the record. The painting represents the map of Nigeria. According to a Trust's President Mudassir Zia, his organisation had started Street Art Competition to remove wall chalking from the walls of Lahore and to repaint them with the culture and traditions of Pakistan. In the third season of Street Art Competition, around 2,350 participants painted around 270 walls in different areas of Lahore to remove wall chalking and beautify the city with the positive themes of Pakistan.
Later, the team of Message Welfare Trust took on the challenge of painting the world's largest canvas painting on the theme of Pakistan and the youth successfully broke the world record. Its purpose was to show the world the unity and courage of our nation's youth.
