PML-L to move Supreme Court: Rahimoon

A Pakistan Muslim League-Like-minded (PML-L) lawmaker, Abdul Razzaq Rahimoon, on Thursday said that his party would move to Supreme Court against the disqualification of former Chief Minister Sindh, Dr Arbab Rahim, as the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad bench had set aside his petition and the Sindh Assembly voted against him.
Talking to Business Recorder after the assembly session, he said the tradition, which the PPP had set in the house, was not good as it had first unseated a leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F), Jam Madad Ali Khan, during its last government and now Dr Arbab became its victim. He said when Arbab Rahim was Chief Minister, Marvi Mazhar, daughter of Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq, had never attended the assembly sessions but she was granted leave and PML members did not bring a resolution to unseat her.
He said the PPP government should have also followed their party's precedent. He said there were numerous members of National Assembly, who never attended the assembly sessions but their memberships were still intact. He said it was the political victimisation, which Dr Arbab was facing at the hand of PPP government. To a question, he said, his party would stand a candidate against anyone on the vacant seat of Arbab Rahim in the by-polls and would win it. He said that the family of Rahim had been winning the Thar seat since 1936. Razzaq Rahimoon also criticised the Advocate General Sindh, Abdul Fateh Malik, for his remarks on the assembly floor against Dr Arbab Rahim.
