Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab for Information, Senator, Pervaiz Rashid, has said that freedom of media is equally beneficial to governments, political parties and the societies. He said that government of Muslim League-N has given priority to bilateral relations with the press during the last four years and never tried to impose any curb on it.
He reiterated that we will continue our co-operation with the journalists in their professional activities without any discrimination. Pervaiz Rashid congratulated and welcomed President Lahore Press Club Arshad Ansari and other office bearers on behalf of Punjab government.
He expressed the hope that newly elected office-bearers of press club will come up to the expectations of their colleagues. He announced to convene a meeting of Lahore Journalists Housing Society to be presided over by him on March 24 for reviewing the issues of the society.
He said that officers of all concerned departments including LDA will devise future strategy after reviewing the situation on the spot and a meeting will also be held with the Chief Minister Punjab for getting final approval. Pervaiz Rashid presented a cheque for Rs 1.8 million as a grant to President Lahore Press Club Arshad Ansari for the Lahore Press Club on behalf of Punjab government and also assured sympathetic consideration of other demands.
President Lahore Press Club Arshad Ansari expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. He also paid tributes to Senator Pervaiz Rashid for his good-wishes and assured all possible co-operation by the journalists to the Punjab government.
