National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) executed 3250 national development projects at home and abroad with a cumulative cost of over Rs 8000 billion and yielded revenue of about Rs 40 billion up to December 31, 2011 which is an historic achievement.
NESPAK, which has entered 40 years of its establishment, has made a major contribution at home and abroad in reshaping the profession of engineering consultancy. Managing Director of NESPAK, Asad I.A Khan while reviewing the past performance of the company, said that NESPAK had achieved several objectives by creating a pool of hundreds of talented engineers and other professionals, attained self reliance in engineering consultancy and minimised dependence on foreign consultants in the engineering sector.
He also said that 2010-2011 was another successful year of NESPAK as it secured 110 new projects at home and abroad worth Rs 526 million. These projects were secured through tough national and international competition while some of these were awarded on the basis of its top quality performance, he added.
The home projects include 747 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant in Guddu, Bara Multipurpose Dam Project, Kalma Chowk Flyover, Ashiana Housing Scheme Lahore, Pakistan Iran Gas Pipeline Project, 500 kv Lahore Substation and Allied Transmission Line Project and the rehabilitation, modernisation of Jinnah Barrage and Restoration of flood damages work in Pakistan. The foreign projects secured during the year include Gambella Irrigation and Drainage Services Projects in Ethopia, seven schools around Doha, Traffic Police Complex in Qatar, a number of road projects in Oman and Strom Water Drainage Projects in different cities of Saudi Arabia.
Another important achievement of NESPAK is the fact that since its establishment in 1973, besides Pakistan it has executed a large number of projects in 36 other countries and provided them top class services in several disciplines of engineering thus earning a good name for Pakistan besides bringing handsome foreign exchange. NESPAK has also opened more foreign offices in Damam in Saudi Arabia for power project, a Design office in the State of Qatar and a consultancy office in USA.
