BoR asked to allot 426,597 acres of Gorakh Hills' land to GHDA

A committee constituted by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has asked Board of Revenue (BoR) to allot the 4,26,597 acres land of Gorakh Hills to Gorakh Hills Development Authority (GHDA), Business Recorder has learnt. The instruction was issued during a meeting of the committee held here at committee room-1 of Sindh Assembly, which was chaired by Minister for Tourism Mohammad Ali Malkani.
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah had constituted the committee during the meeting of Board of Directors (BoD) of GHDA on March 14, 2012, with the mandate to resolve the issues of Gorakh Hills. The committee was asked to review the issues of Gorakh Hills and submit its repot to Chief Minister within seven days, sources addded. Minister for Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah, Minister for Law and Prisons Ayaz Soomro, Senior Member BoR, MPAs Syed Ghulam Shah Jilani, Najam Din Abro, Secretary Tourism Syed Safdar Ali Shah, Additional Secretary Akhtar Bugti, Director General GHDA Engineer Nazeer Hussein Chakrani and others attended the meeting.
Sources said that DG GHDA Engineer Nazeer Hussein Chakrani briefed the committee members about all issues of Gorakh Hills. He told the meeting that though development work had been underway for the last many years, the land of Gorakh Hills had not yet been allotted to the concerned department despite several efforts. He said that the District Administration of Dadu had also endorsed the version of GHDA about the allotment of the land while Chief Secretary Sindh had also asked BoR to allot the land to GHDA but the matter was still hangs in the balance.
Upon this, all the committee members supported the version of DG GHDA and asked Senior Member BoR, who was also present in the meeting, to start the process of allotment of the 4,26,597 acres of land to GHDA, sources said. Experts of Earnest and Young, a private consultant firm, also briefed the committee members over the reconstruction of 54 KM road from Wahi Pandhi to the top of Gorakh Hills.
They briefed that the road would be reconstructed as per international standard and it would be double way whichh will cost about Rs 2 billion The committee members okayed the road project and asked the private firm to prepare the PC-1 of the scheme. The committee also reviewed the other issues related to Gorakh Hills during the meeting. The committee would present its report and recommendations to Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah within next couple of days.
