Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh Syed Mushtaq Shah called on vice-chancellor University of Sindh Dr Parveen Shah on Friday to discuss law-and-order situation on the campus and to find ways and means improve the same.
The IGP Sindh congratulated Dr Parveen Shah on assuming the charge as Acting vice-chancellor of the University and lauded her continuous efforts for maintaining congenial educational atmosphere and efforts to bring peace at the campus for promotion of educational environment.
Sindh University acting vice-chancellor welcomed the IGP Sindh at campus and briefed him about the whole educational, political scenario as well as circumstances that create disturbances in the peace of the academic educational activities at the campus. Dr Shah informed the IGP Sindh that police have still not arrested the culprits involved in Murder of Professor Bashir Ahmed Channer and student Deen Muhammad Dal. She emphasised the need for the immediate arrest of culprits as well as full police support to University administration for bringing in peace at the campus.
She said that presently 23,000 male and female students are studying in morning and evening sessions in the University's 54 institutes and departments and due to delay in arrest of culprits every one-student, faculty and employee-and community of Jamshoro feel insecure themselves as well as uncertainty. The IGP Police informed that Police have taken several actions for the arrest of the culprits and give assurance for arrest of culprits involved in assassination of Professor Bashir Ahmed Channar and student Deen Muhammad Dal. He offered full co-operation on behalf of Sindh Police and said that every possible step will be taken for bringing in peace at Campus for smooth running of academic activities.
