Despite the efforts of ruling Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and its allies to provide a calm environment to President Asif Ali Zardari for his fifth address to the joint sitting of parliament on Saturday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is seemed determined to register a strong protest against government's bad governance particularly the rulers' confrontational policy towards judiciary.
According to insiders, PML-N did not give positive response to the efforts made by the PPP and its allies to ensure order in the house during President's address to the joint sitting. The PML-N decided to remain in the house to register strong protest instead of staging walk out, they added.
However, a PML-N lawmaker told Business Recorder that a strategy pertaining to chanting slogans and other matters related to the party's protest during the presidential address would be discussed in the parliamentary party meeting to be held ahead of the joint session at Parliament House on Saturday.
"One thing is clear that we will not lose the opportunity," said the opposition lawmaker, adding that the party would not let the rulers to 'loot' the country with both hands. He alleged the rulers for rampant corruption, bad governance and most importantly confrontation with the country's higher judiciary and the government's reluctance to write letter to Swiss authorities. He further said that the party had serious reservation over the Prime Minister's recent speech trying to undermine the country's higher judiciary and his reluctance to write a letter to Swiss authorities.
