Murat M. Onart Consul General of Turkey while addressing at the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Wednesday said that he is thankful for the invitation and hospitality extended to him for his visit to Hyderabad Chamber. He said that it is a fact that in spite of good brotherly relations between Turkey and Pakistan, the trade volume between two countries is not very impressive.
He hoped that after signing of Free Trade Agreement the volume of trade would be increased considerably as there are immense opportunities of trade between the two countries. He said Turkey's economy was not good in the past but now it is progressing at a satisfactory pace with the investment. Turkey has progressed well in world community it has become 8th industrially developed country and 15th economy in the world. Talking about visa policy he said it is very liberal and visas are issued from Karachi Consulate General in two weeks, but if it is needed on urgent basis the Commercial Attaché of Turkish Consulate can be approached in this connection. In a reply to a question he said that it is a good idea to introduce Turkish food processing industry in Hyderabad through organising an exhibition of Turkish products in Hyderabad.
President Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Gohar Ullah said that although Pakistan is having long historical friendly relations with brotherly country Turkey, yet the trade volume is not as strong as it should be. Pakistan's business and industrial community, therefore, gives preference to mutual, strong business relationship in establishing joint ventures and want to enhance their efforts in increasing the bilateral trade relationships. He said that the province of Sindh is rich in mining sector especially coal as Thar District reserves are 5th largest coal reserves in the world.
