Joint-sitting of parliament: PML-N yet to evolve strategy

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is still in the process of consultation to evolve strategy for the joint sitting of the parliament which is likely to be addressed by President Asif Ali Zardari on March 17. Sources told Business Recorder that the PML-N was in touch with other opposition parties in the parliament including JUI (F), PPP (Sherpao) in a bid to evolve a joint strategy for the joint sitting of the parliament.
The PML-N Information Secretary Senator Mushahidullah Khan told Business Recorder that the PML-N had no hope of any positive act on the part of the PPP-led government. "The people are facing utter disappointment due to escalating price hike and inapt policies of the government which gave nothing to the masses except hopelessness and disappointment," he said, adding, "Corruption is rampant mainly due to bad governance and rulers are busy in loot and plunder and have failed to deliver."
The PML-N leader rejected increase in train fares and termed it an anti-people act. On the one hand, Pakistan railways was on the brink of collapse while on the other hand, train fares had been increased. He expressed serious concerns over country's economic situation and said rulers were busy in printing currency notes to meet the expenditures. "All the financial institutions including ADB, IMF, World Bank have expressed concern over state of economy in Pakistan," he said.
Talking about the allegations leveled by PPP leaders against PML-N leadership, he said that the PPP leaders were busy in character assassination just to cover up their misdeeds. "People are fed up with PPP and it would face defeat in next general elections," he said. Khan said that the PML-N believed in constitutional, legal and peaceful democratic means and would make all-out to press the PPP government for early polls in the country.
Regarding unopposed election of chairman and deputy chairman Senate, he said the PML-N had decided not to field any candidate in consultation with other opposition parties in the Senate. He said the PML-N, if came to power, would evolve a comprehensive strategy for steering the country out of crisis.
