Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Tuesday submitted privilege motion in the Senate against the sloganeering in the visitors galleries on Monday on the eve of chairman and deputy chairman's election. The privilege motion has been submitted by PML-N Senator Syed Zafar Ali Shah, while referring to the other's day slogans in the visitors galleries mostly by workers of the ruling Pakistan People's Party (PPP).
Shah had also staged walk out from the House in protest against the sloganeering on Monday, but it failed to create any impact as the House continuously echoed with the slogans like "Jeay Bhutto", "Zinda Hai Bibi, Zinda Hai" and "Aik Zardari, Sab Pey Bhari."
In his motion, the Senator argued that chanting of slogans in the visitors' galleries was violation of the sanctity of the House and breach of privilege of the parliament. The senator has also demanded action against those who breached privilege of the House.
Talking to Business Recorder, Zafar Ali Shah said that he has argued in the privilege motion that neither any member of the House nor any guest could raise slogan, as it was against the rules. He further said that he drew attention of the presiding officer Afrasiab Khattak, but he did not pay any heed, resultantly he had to leave the House in protest.
