Chairman, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has said that the government's agenda is to protect corrupt people instead of providing relief to the people. Addressing a news conference here on Sunday at the conclusion of daylong meeting of his party's central executive committee, Chairman PTI said that the meeting decided to launch countrywide membership campaign and 40 million people would be made members.
Imran Khan dispelled the impression that Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Javed Hashmi's absence from the meeting was due to differences with him. He said that Shah Mehmood did not attend the meeting because his relative injured in an accident and he would be reaching Islamabad on Monday morning while Javed Hashmi was not present because he was leaving to US on invitation of overseen chapter of the PTI. He said that Hashmi was going to US to raise funds for the party. Imran Khan said that the PTI target would be to give membership to four million youth of the country who would in turn elect the leadership of the party.
Imran promised unlike other parties, the leadership of the PTI even the Chairman would be elected by the members. All the posts/office bearers would be elected and PTI would be an institution instead of Imran Khan's party. There would be elections from grassroots level to the, he added. Khan said that PTI would set example against the family-based politics in Pakistan. To a question about the Prime Minister, Chairman PTI said that the Prime Minister had diverted his all energies to cover up the corruption of the President. He went on saying that the Gilani-led government taken the economy to the brink of collapse.
