Younus Habib, the then chief of Mehran Bank, insisted that he personally handed over money to Nawaz Sharif, a private TV channel reported Saturday. He also claimed that Rs 2.3 million was sent to Shahbaz Sharif through a telegraphic transfer. Habib said he supported Pakistan People''s Party in 1993 election to repent for his sins.
He also said he also financially supported religious parties against Nawaz Sharif in 1993 elections. He claimed that "a large amount" of money was given to Aftab Khan Sherpao. When asked why a big amount was given to Sherpao, he responded that the purpose was to obtain deposits from him for Mehran Bank.
