An alleged police informer was targeted in the limits of Sohrab Goth police station on Friday. According to police sources, the incident of targeted killing was witnessed at Faqira Goth where two armed riders sprayed a police informer namely Muzamil, 35 son of Shehzad with bullets.
Resultantly, he along with a pushcart juice vendor namely Muhammad Aslam son of Pir Bux received bullet wounds. The victim Aslam died on spot while Muzamil was shifted to private hospital where he also succumbed to his injures. Later, police shifted both bodies to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for autopsy. They said the victim Aslam and Muzamil were the residents of the same area where incident took place and added that the deceased Aslam hailed from Southern Punjab.
When contacted, DSP Ijaz Rajpur confirmed that the deceased Muzamil was police informer and police had arrested a person Imran and his accomplice over the charge of his murder. He said the accused person, who was arrested on the information of Muzamil, had threatened him for dire consequences after his release from jail. Replaying to a question, he said the victim Muzamil was the prime target of the armed riders however; the said juice vendor was victimised in this incident. No case was registered till filing of this report.
