The Karachi Port handled 129,126 tonnes of cargo comprising 102,080 tonnes of import cargo and 27,046 tonnes of export cargo including 3,831 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 102,080 tonnes comprised of 27,808 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,544 tonnes of general cargo; 23,708 tonnes of bulk cargo: 18.500 tonnes of coal; 5,208 tonnes of canola seeds and 49,020 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,046 tonnes comprised of 15,191 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,855 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,607 tonnes of cement and 9,248 tonnes of loose bulk cement. Six ships namely APL Brisbane, President Adams, Cap Verde, Yaran, Icdas-11 and Sea Frontier with four container ships and two oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Four vessels viz YM Fuzhou, UASC Shuwaikh, Glovis Prestige and Lodestar Genesis with two container ships, one vehicles carrier and one oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths. Three ships namely UASC Shuwaikh, UBC Cyprus and Vishva Bandhan with one container ship, one cement carrier and one coal carrier respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while another ship namely Lodestar Genesis with one oil tanker is expected to sail on Saturday.
Two vessels viz YM Hamburg and Oriental Rose with one container ship and one ethanol ship respectively due to arrive on Friday, while four vessels viz Akaki, Maetiga, Stream Luna and Galveston with one crude oil tanker, one base oil tanker, one mogas carrier and one coal carrier respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 43,194 tonnes includes 5,150 tonnes of edible oil; 4,860 tonnes of urea; 2,104 tonnes of iron ore and 31,080 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 20,999 tonnes includes 3,356 tonnes of rice; 1,641 tonnes of cement and 16,002 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Three ships namely CV Nysted Maersk, CV Dubai Express and MT Topaz-II sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely Hanjin Elizabeth is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of nine ships namely CV Dubai Express, CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Hanjin Elizabeth, CV Nysted Maersk, MV Florida-II, MV Lion, MV Arrilah, MT Topaz-II and MT Chem Road Vega are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, urea, iron ore and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as three ships namely MSC Maria, MT Qubaa and Athina with containers, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of two vessels viz CV MSC Maria and MT Athina carrying containers and diesel oil respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
