The profit after tax of Nishat Power Limited (NPL) stood at Rs 848.848 million in the half year period ended December 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 1,210.927 million earned in the corresponding period in 2010. The companies earning per share stood at Rs 2.397 in the period under review against Rs 3.420 in the same period a year back.
The Board of Directors of the company in its meeting held on Thursday recommended an interim cash dividend at Re.1.00 per share ie 10 percent for the half year ended December 31, 2011.
According to the financial results sent to Karachi Stock Exchange, the company's sales increased to Rs 10.477 billion in half year period in 2011 against Rs 9.671 billion in the same period in 2010. The cost of sales increased to Rs 8.106 billion against Rs 6.995 billion. The company's profit before taxation stood at Rs 856.244 million in the half year period in 2011 against Rs 1,219.029 million in the same period in 2010.
On quarterly basis, the company's profit after tax decreased to Rs 418.212 million translating earning per share of Rs 1.181 in the quarter ended December 31, 2011 as compared to after tax profit of Rs 1,155.561 million with per share earning of Rs 3.263 in the same quarter in 2010.
