Planning Commission of Pakistan is inviting proposals on "Constructive Youth Engagement". Youth and community engagement is critically important to bring new and innovative ideas for creating opportunities. Moreover, government is fully committed to provide space to the youth and implement polices which should open new avenue of growth and development for them.
The Framework for Economic Growth of Pakistan formulated by the Planning Commission provides for a strategy that seeks accelerated and sustained growth and development. It comes at a time when the global recession, war on terror and other factors arising out of rampant corruption and governance issues have severely constrained the economic growth in Pakistan.
An unintended consequence of our policies has been the stifling of internal markets, cities and communities, which play a critical role in fostering productivity, innovation and entrepreneurship and ultimately promote growth, prosperity and development. The growth strategy argues that what is most important today is to provide youth, education with opportunity.
It is important to note that one third of youth currently lives in urban areas and their share is expected to reach 50 percent by 2030. Pakistan has a relatively large proportion (32%) of uneducated youth mostly with no vocational and life skills, end up in elementary occupations or remain either unemployed or inactive. There is a need to provide for their health, education, and livelihood, and engage them in activities which convert their latent energy into positive outcomes for family, community, country and the global community.
The suggestion, ideas proposals for "Constructive Youth Engagement" for greater economic development may be forwarded through email or by post to the following address maximum by Monday February 27, 2012. The authors of best five proposals will be invited to attend high level meeting with the highest level in the government; they will be given certificate and other prizes.-PR
