US Plains hard red winter wheat basis bids were steady on Thursday amid slow farmer selling, traders said. The dormant crop was in good shape after recent rains and snow, the traders said, adding, however, that there were some areas in the southern Plains that needed more rain after last year's devastating drought. Egypt's General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) bought 180,000 tonnes of US soft red winter wheat at its tender, for April 11-20 shipment.
