Holy See: Muhammad Saleem presents credentials to Pope Benedict XVI
ISLAMABAD: Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to the Holy See, Muhammad Saleem presented his credentials to His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, at an auspicious ceremony held at the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City the other day, according to a message received here on Tuesday.
The Ambassador was extended a warm welcome at the Palace. He conveyed to the Pope greetings and good wishes on behalf of the people, the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The Pope conveyed his greetings to President Asif Ali Zardari, government and the people of Pakistan.
He expressed his earnest wish that spirit of cooperation that marked diplomatic relations for over five decades between the Holy See and Pakistan will continue to promote the fundamental values which serve to uphold the dignity of the human person.
His Holiness Pope has also extended affectionate greetings to the Catholic faithful in Pakistan and their Bishop and assured them of his fervent prayers for their well-being.
