Chief Secretary Balochistan Ahmed Bakhsh Lehri on Friday said that students in rural areas of Balochistan will be provided Rs 200 each honoraria monthly under Benazir Income Support Programme. The step is aimed at promoting education in remote areas of the province and started after completing survey in the 27 districts.
He said this while addressing a meeting held to review progress in the survey to compile data of the poor students in the province. He said that following the directives issued by the federal government efforts are afoot to promote education in the province.
Senior Member Board of Revenue Sarwar Javed, Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Dr Umer Babar, Secretary Statistics Division, Secretary Education, Director Benazir Income Support Programme and Commissioner Statistic Division Islamabad attended the meeting.
The Chief Secretary asked the authorities concerned to complete the survey in remaining areas so the students from low income class could be benefited from the programme launched for the promotion of education in the backward areas of Balochistan.
