National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) has decided that all the Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) which have installed CNG cylinders would not be allowed to enter motorways and highways if they have not obtained fitness certificate from the Hydro Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP).
All the PSV vehicles having CNG cylinders have been given 10 days time period to get fitness certificate from the HDIP failing which they would be fined and not be allowed to enter motorways and highway anywhere in Pakistan. Inspector General NH&MP Wajid Ali Khan Durrani has also directed all the DIGs of NH&MP that not to allow those PSV vehicles having CNG cylinders on its rooftop to enter motorways and highways, as it is against the safety measures.
These decisions have been taken by the IG NH&MP after happening of three accidents due to blast of CNG cylinders in there vehicles on highways. The IGP has also requested all PSVs owners that they should take all the safety measures for commuters while installing of CNG kits in their vehicles and get a fitness certificate from HDIP.
