Third consecutive day: 380 CNG pumps, 600 industrial units remain closed

About 380 CNG stations and over 600 textile industrial units remained closed in Faisalabad region on the third consecutive day, under four days gas loadshedding schedule, here on Saturday. Industrialists, industrial workers and people were protesting against low gas pressures and closure of factories.
They blocked roads and link roads of the industrial city that created problems for the commuters. The protesters chanted slogans against the SNGPL management and demanded immediate action to resolve the problem. They said that the problem of low gas pressure emerged with the advent of winter. Domestic consumers were facing gas loadshedding everyday from 8am to 3pm.
Commenting over the prevailing situation, Rana Arif Tauseef, Chairman Pakistan Textile Exporters Association rejected four-day gas closure plan and said that it would prove last nail in the coffin of the value added textile industry. The government would have to reset its priorities regarding provision of gas otherwise situation would go out of control, he added. Textile exporters were unable to meet deadlines for export orders on time and buyers were losing confidence on the Pakistani exporters, he said.
