Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (Sepa) has expressed anger over the non-seriousness of town officials of all towns of the city in making environment safe and clean. It issued warning notices to concerned officials of towns for proper dumping of waste at the designated land filling sites.
Well-placed sources told Business Recorder on Saturday that SEPA's team visited the waste points of various areas here and monitored the management system. The team captured photographs and made videos of these areas for solid evidence. After the monitoring, the officials observed that administration of concerned areas is not serious in dumping any kind of waste hazardous for environment.
Later, on the directives of Director General SEPA, concerned officials issued warning notices to the officials of Kiamari, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Malir, Gadap, Nazimabad, Bin Qasim, Layari, Gulberg, Saddar, Orangi and Liaqatabad. They also issued an Environmental Protection Order to the administration of areas of Jamshed town where the waste management system has failed, sources said.
In the warning letters and EPO, they mentioned that waste in towns is spreading in different places, which is very dangerous for the health of not only humans, but also animals and plants. It further mentioned that town officials should dump all kinds of waste at the designated landfill sites located in North Karachi and close to Hub.
