The lawmakers of the Balochistan Assembly in Thursday session criticised the National Highway Authority (NHA) for not completing road projects in Balochistan. The assembly session started with Speaker Muhammad Aslam Bhootani in chair, which started about 40 minutes late behind its schedule.
Minister for Agriculture Mir Asad Baloch said that he had covered the distance between Panjgore and Quetta in 13 hours, which could be covered in six hours if condition of the road was made better. Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Shama Pervin Magsi said that NHA was not paying heed to complete Rato Dero-Jhal Magsi road project. Minister for Wasa Mir Habibur Rehman Muhammad Hasni and Minister for Fisheries Mir Hamal Kalamati accused NHA for very dilapidated condition of Sorab-Basima road. Minister for Zakaat Salim Khoso blamed NHA for not restarting work on under-construction Dera Allahyar-Usta Muhammad road.
Speaker Bhootani gave ruling that sitting chairman of NHA should be called in the Balochistan Assembly or a parliamentary leaders delegation should call on him in Islamabad in this regard. Responding to him, Finance Minister Mir Asim Kurd Gailo said that Chief Minister Balochistan and he himself had held several meetings with senior officials of NHA in Islamabad adding that but in vain as they were reluctant to release funds for incomplete road projects of Balochistan. Later, after completing other proceedings of the legislature, the chair adjourned the house till Saturday, 17th December 11am.
