767 gangs of criminals busted

Police have exterminated 767 criminal gangs involved in heinous crimes, and arrested 3100 criminals, whereas 4882 cases have been traced against them and recovered stolen property worth more then rupees 448 million during the 11 months of current year. More than 34 thousand six hundred and eighty seven proclaimed offenders and court absconders have also been arrested.
This was disclosed by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Ahmad Raza Tahir, here on Saturday. Ahmad Raza Tahir was informed that during the same period, Lahore Police have busted 767 criminal gangs involved in heinous crimes, and apprehended 3100 criminals during the last 11 months, whereas 4882 cases were traced including; nine cases of murder, two case of kidnapping for ransom, 15 cases of robbery cum murder, 73 cases of dacoity, 1728 cases of robbery, 1728 cases of theft and burglary and 628 miscellaneous cases.
The police recovered stolen property worth more than rupees 448 million from the possession of criminals including; more than rupees 35 million in cash, 344 cars, 830 motorcycles, 2057 mobile phones, more than four-kg and 73 tola gold ornaments, seven Wagons, eight pick-ups, 38 carry duba, 45 rikshaw, two Mazda truck, seven tractors and other valuables.
Police have also arrested 21276 proclaimed offenders in this period who were wanted in 690 cases of murder, 594 cases of attempt of murder, 614 cases of dacoity, 2579 cases of theft, 1608 cases of robbery and 15191 other cases. Thus 13411 court absconders were also arrested in this period.
Lahore Police have registered 5210 cases and arrested 5224 culprits during the campaign against illegal weapon and recovered 54 Kalashnikovs, 240 rifle, 607 guns, 4428 pistols, 319 revolvers, 48 carbine, 10 mouzer, 66 daggers, 916 magazines and more than one lakh and twenty thousands bullets.
During the action against drug sellers 9898 cases were register and 10315 culprits were arrested and recovered 339-kg heroine, 971-kg chars, 432-kg opium, 141-kg hashish, 755 intoxicating pills, 2115 injections and 65745 bottles of liquor from the possession of the criminals. Moreover 8545 gamblers were arrested and recovered the betting amount of rupees 12.3 million from their possession.
