Nadra making e-cards to provide Zakat, Ushr to beneficiaries

With the completion of e-system of Benazir-Muawinat-cards, NADRA would establish more than 100 outlets in order to disburse said cards in all over the province, Business Recorder learnt on Saturday. Sindh Zakat and Ushr department and National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) are working on the making of e-cards in order to provide Zakat to beneficiaries of province with complete transparency, sources said.
Almost 90 percent work has been finalised by the NADRA in this regard and President Asif Ali Zardari would inaugurate "Benazir-Muawinat-cards" scheme very soon, sources said. With inauguration of said scheme, the NADRA would establish more than 1,300 outlets in all over the province. A large number of outlets would be established in the suburbs of Karachi and Hyderabad, sources told. While, outlets would also be established in all other districts as well, sources added.
Through said outlets, the disbursement of Benazir cards would be carried out while NADRA would also conduct reporting and monitoring of whole new e-system, sources added. So far, Chairmen of Zakat committees are giving cheques directly to the beneficiaries while with launching of this e-system, about 181,298 beneficiaries would draw their Zakat amount through ATM booths, sources said.
"This online system of Zakat would decrease the possibilities of corruption because the involvement of human hands would be reduced automatically", an official of Zakat and Ushr department told Business Recorder.
