ISLAMABAD: An accountability court of Islamabad Tuesday summoned three more prosecution witnesses in three references against the Sharif family members and adjourned the hearing till January 23.

Accountability judge Muhammad Bashir resumed hearing of the references filed by the National Accountability Bureau against former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his family members, pertain to Al-Azizia Steel Mills, offshore companies including Flagship Investment Ltd, and Avenfield properties of London.

The former prime minister, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (Retd) Muhammad Safdar appeared before the court.

During the course of proceeding, the court recorded statements of NAB witnesses including Nasir Junejo and Umar Draz Gondal.

Both the witnesses were cross-examined by defence counsel Khawaja Harris.

The NAB prosecutor requested the court to summon joint investigation team head Wajid Zia as seven witnesses had already recorded their statements. However, Khwaja Harris contended that first the statements of other witnesses should be recorded.

The court, however, summoned three more witnesses including Afaq Ahmed, Aziz Rehan and Ghulam Mustafa on next date of hearing.
