Former Australian Test leg spinner Stuart MacGill announced Friday he was coming out of retirement to play for the Sydney Sixers in the domestic Big Bash competition. MacGill, who retired from international cricket in 2008 with 208 Test wickets at an average of 29.02, said that as soon as he found out Sydney would have a team in the tournament he was keen to take part.
"I played Twenty20 years ago when it first started in England, so I've got a rough understanding of the game and the demands it places on the bowlers," MacGill said. "I've always thought it was good for the old blokes. It doesn't really matter if you hit me over the fence. I've been hit there before." He joins a host of veterans pulling on their kit again for the tournament from December 16 to January 28, including Shane Warne, Matthew Hayden and Brad Hogg.
