United States Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter on Thursday extended his 'most sincere condolences' to Pakistani people, the government and armed forces on November 26 tragic Nato attack in Mohmand Agency. In a message to Pakistani nation, the government and its armed forces via a video-sharing website Youtube, Munter expressed the hope that the ongoing crisis in Pakistan-US relations will be ridded out likewise the past.
"Pakistan and the United States have stood together for over 60 years. We have weathered previous crises together. I am certain we will weather this one, too, and emerge - together - as stronger partners," he said. The fragile relationship between Pakistan and United States has witnessed several ups and downs since joining war against terrorism after 9/11 - from Raymond Davis issue to Osama bin Laden killing in a US covert operation in Abbottabad.
But the Nato attack on two Pakistan border posts, killing over two dozens security personnel and injuring a dozen of others, has given birth to serious doubts about the nature of future co-operation between the two strategic partners. "I would like to extend my most sincere condolences to the people and government of Pakistan and especially to Pakistan's men and women in uniform, for the tragic incident that occurred on November 26 in Mohmand Agency," Munter said in his video message.
"My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the men who died," he expressed the condolence and also conveyed the same in Urdu language saying: "Hamain Bohot Afsos Hay". The US envoy said that they took the matter very seriously and pledged a full and in-depth investigation into the incident. "I want to emphasise to the people of Pakistan my personal commitment to do all I can to make sure that we emerge from the tragic incident as stronger partners," he added.
