Australian wheat stores at 7.3 million tonnes

Australia's bulk storage of wheat grain fell by 916,000 tonnes or 11 percent from the previous month to 7.3 million tonnes at the end of October 2011, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Monday. The total was more than double that stored in October 2010, ABS said.
A poor season and difficult harvest conditions contributed to a reduction in the quality of grain in October, the ABS said in a statement. Stocks of milling grade wheat grain were 3.8 million tonnes at the end of October 2011, down 9 percent from the previous month but up 25 percent from the previous year. Stocks of feed grade wheat grain were at 3.5 million tonnes at the end of October 2011, a decrease of 13 percent from the end of September 2011.
