To provide training to female farmers on productive health and management of quails, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Agricultural University in collaboration with Sarhad Rural Support Program (SRSP) had organised two-day training course on quails farming for female farmers.
The Vice Chancellor of Agri Universit,y Dr Khan Bahadar Marwat, was chief guest at closing ceremony on Sunday.
The Dean Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences, Dr Muhammad Subhan Qureshi, Chairman of Dept of Poultry Science Dr Sarzamin Khan and other faculty members were present on the occasion. The SRSP team leader, Zafar Khan, and Program Officer Ms Salma also attend the concluding ceremony. More than 12 female farmers, belonging to rural areas of District Charsadda took part in the two-day training course.
The Department of Poultry Science offered 80 quail birds, and 5 kg of feed and 1 kg feed supplement was donated by the ICI to the training participants. Dr Subhan , explaining the aims and objectives of the course, said that the purpose was to provide basic training to female farmers regarding productive health and management of quails.
He said that female farmers had been provided training on brooding, rearing and laying management of quails. He added that the training would be beneficial for farmers in terms of generating income at home in short span of time. The farmers, he said, would be able to raise quails easily at their homes.
He proposed that the SRSC and the faculty should think of preparing a dynamic database of poultry and dairy farmers for more effective interaction and seek business support from relevant agencies.
Dr Marwat said that the training would be helpful to enhance the income of rural people through better utilisation of the available resources.
