Religious organisations Jamaat-ul-Dawa (JuD) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Sunday demanded immediate revenge of the Pakistani soldiers killed in a Nato attack on two Pakistan Army border checkpoints in Mohmand Agency early Saturday morning.
The two parties held separate protest demonstration to express their anguish and fury over the unprovoked and cowardly attack by the Nato forces and warned that the Pakistani nation stood by its valiant soldiers and ready to make any sacrifice for the defense of its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
The banned JuD held funeral prayer in absentia of the soldiers killed in the Nato attack at Nasir Bagh, which was attended by thousands of people from different walks of life. It was also attended by the JuD leaders Hafiz Abdul Rahman Makki, Convener Tehrik-e-Hurmat-Rasool, (peace be upon him) Maulana Amir Hamza, Qari Mohammad Yaqub, former Secretary Lahore Bar Association Abdul Latif and other local JuD leaders and workers.
Addressing the highly charged protestors, JuD leaders said Nato forces have committed naked aggression against Pakistan and violated its sovereignty, which could not be tolerated any more.
Head of JuD political affairs Hafiz Abdur Rahman Makki said that by attacking Pakistani check points in Mohmand Agency, the US had exposed its designs against Pakistan. The government should take practical steps to take revenge of the martyred Pakistani soldiers and stop terrorism of Nato forces.
The JI also staged a protest demonstration in front of Lahore Press Club here on Sunday against the Nato raids in Mohmand Agency. The rally was addressed by JI leaders Ameer-ul-Azeem, Zakrullah Mujahid and President Shabab-e-Milli Jahangir Hussain Bara.
The JI activists were very furious and shouted slogans against the US and Nato forces demanding a befitting response to their aggression and terrorism.
They said every Pakistani was demanding immediate revenge of the martyred soldiers. The rulers have given 15 days to the US to vacate Shamsi Airbase, whereas the nation is not ready to accept American presence on Pakistan air bases even for 15 seconds.
