National Database & Registration Authority (Nadra) has asked the Sindh Government to take necessary measures to maintain law and order at Nadra centres set up for issuance of Pakistan Cards to rain-affected citizens and cautiously endorse the right person after complete verification, this was stated by Deputy Chairman Nadra Tariq Malik in a statement issued here on Saturday.
He also warned the culprits not to exploit the vulnerability of rain victims with meagre offers to process their cards, as severe actions will be taken against them after collecting details of such elements.
Nadra has so far disbursed Rs 6,182,767,341 through 749,779 Pakistan Cards to the heads of rain-affected families in Sindh, 129,784 Pakistan cards in Mirpurkhas, 243,824 in Badin, 80,844 in Tando Mohammad Khan and 183,689 in Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah), 48,038 in Tando Allahyar 61,732 in Sanghar and 1,868 in Umerkot have been issued to the heads of the families.
He added that 72 centers of Nadra are issuing Pakistan card in seven districts including Badin, Tando Mohammad Khan, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar, Sanghar and Umerkot whereas other 26 centers, on completing their task, are now addressing the complaints from genuine beneficiaries, who were unable to get registration for Pakistan Cards.
"We are setting up more distribution centres, as we receive verified data from PDMA in collaboration with Local Government," he said. He said that Nadra has launched a mobile SMS service in collaboration with Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and all operation telecom companies to determine a person's existence in the beneficiary list for Pakistan Card to facilitate the rain-affected people in checking the status of their requests.
He said that Nadra has also mobilised its mobile resources Mobile Registration Vans (MRVs) to process CNIC free of cost in all affected areas in co-ordination with the public representatives and district administrators. He said cash disbursement is a sensitive mechanism and Nadra ensures the process should be transparent, fair and flawless by working closely with provincial authorities.-PR
