MULTAN: Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana on Monday said the Punjab government was taking revolutionary steps to improve living standard of masses.

The officials concerned should ensure timely completion of uplift schemes and also ensure use of best quality material, the Punjab Governor expressed these views while chairing a meeting at Circuit House.

He said that Multan was an important city of South Punjab. The population of the city was on rise and there was need to ensure availability of all possible modern facilities, he added.

He directed officials to ensure timely completion of Safe City project, Command and Control Centre, expansion of Cardiology Institute, Shadab Institute for blind persons and other schemes.

Commissioner Multan Division Muhammad Bilal Butt informed that work on 3531 schemes of Punjab Development Goal Programme was near completion.

Similarly work on second phase of the project was also in progress at another 1942 schemes, he said and added that for second phase schemes, Rs 3.89 billions were being spent. He hoped that the work would be completed by March.

The Punjab Governor also directed Mepco officials to speed up work on different schemes.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Nadir Chathha, CPO Sarfraz Falki and officials from various departments were also present.
