Senate body hear EOBI corruption cases details
ISLAMABAD: The Senate Sub-committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Monday heard the details regarding corruption cases of Employees' Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) of various properties.
The sub-committee meeting was held here at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Senator Saeed Ul Hasan Khan Mandukhel.
The committee was also informed about the progress of different cases by the Institute Former Chief executive officer EOBI, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigative Agency (FIA).
Briefing the committee, Secretary Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Chairman gave details of different projects. He told the committee that from 2011 to 2013, 18 properties were purchased out of which five properties have kept which are benefiting the institution.
The committee was informed that total, 16 projects were started out of which 9 were completed and work is under progress on 7 projects.
Replying to a question, he informed the committee that the recovered money is taken by the Federal Government and we will soon be challenging this. The convener committee said the recovered amount should be kept by the department instead of giving it to the government.
The committee convener asked for details of purchased property before 2012. The committee convener also asked for details of court cases in order to review their report. Pir Sadruddin Shah Rashidi Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Secretary Overseas Pakistanis, Chairman EOBI, the Ministry and FIA officials attended the meeting.
