Glowing tributes paid to former Sindh Sports Minister Dr Muhammad Ali Shah by speakers at the launch of his biography "The Legend Unfolds" at a local hotel here on Sunday.
Speakers that included Sindh Minister Agha Siraj Durani, Ex Pakistan hockey captain Islahuddin Siddiqui, ex cricket captain Moin Khan, Sindh Ministers, Abdul Rauf Siddiqui, Shoaib Bokhari, Sardar Jam Tamachi, cricket commentators Chishty Mujahid, Munir Hussain and Dr Faiz Muhammad Khan.
The legislators of Sindh have recommended the name of Dr Muhammad Ali Shah to head the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), following the expiry of term of present chairman Ijaz Butt.
"We have discussed the matter with President Asif Ali Zardari, requesting him to appoint Dr Muhammad Ali Shah as the new chairman of the PCB.
"This discussion with the President had taken place in the presence of Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, and a few other provincial ministers," Agha Siraj Durani, Sindh Minister for Local Bodies, disclosed while speaking as the chief guest at the launching ceremony of twin-biographies of Dr Shah.
He complimented Dr Shah for spreading sports in the interior regions of the province. "Its really commendable to have organised sports activities in nearly every town and district of the province during the last three years," Siraj Durani said.
"His contribution as Sports Minister of Sindh has really been fantastic," Siraj Durani noted. The biographies of Dr Shah, President, Sindh Olympic Association (SOA), has been titled in English while its translation in Urdu has been named "Azeem Kamyabion Ka Safar" An orthopaedic surgeon by profession, Dr Muhammad Ali Shah has also been the President of the Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) besides being a member of the Governing Board of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
In his speech Dr. Shah announced that the Sindhi edition of his biography will also be published soon and its launching ceremony will be held in Larkana.
"Although I was being approached to work on the idea of writing a biography around for the past one decade I finally made up my mind two years ago to do it. So it has taken me about a couple of years to turn this dream into reality and it has really been a tough task doing it," Dr Shah commented.
The 398-page biography in English contains childhood, family history, professional and social experiences in the field of medicine and sports.
The book is attired with historic and colourful pictures of various natures. He was awarded President's Pride of Performance, Tamgh-e-Imtiaz and Sitar-e-Imtiaz for his meritorious services in the fields of medical, sports and social welfare.
