Futures open interest up by 43 percent

The total open interest position at the futures counter increased significantly by 43 percent during the week ended on October 8, 2011, to Rs 1.78 billion. On the other hand, the futures spreads declined by 696pps on week-on-week basis to stand at 1.5 percent.
Trading at the futures counter remained low and the average daily volume declined by 41 percent on week-on-week basis to 6.4 million shares. Top 5 scrips at the futures counter, contributing 59 percent of the total open interest, were Engro, POL, HUBC, FFBL and LUCK.
