India's oilmeal exports rose 11.5 percent in September, its eleventh straight monthly rise, helped by a jump in oilseeds output and improved demand from Southeast Asia, a leading trade body said on Friday. Oilmeal exports from India, Asia's leading supplier, were 394,877 tonnes in September compared with 354,252 tonnes a year earlier.
Japan, China and Vietnam were the top three buyers for the April-September period. Exports to Iran rose sharply to 149,962 tonnes from 16,924 tonnes in the year ago period, the Solvent Extractors' Association of India said in a statement.
But soyameal exports, which account for a bulk of India's oilmeal sales, were down in September at 225,921 tonne from 290,868 tonnes on lower domestic soyabean stocks. Cumulative exports of soyameal between April and September jumped to 1.13 million tonnes against 852,877 tonnes in the year-ago period. Shipments in the first six months of the year that began in April were at 2.03 million tonnes, up from 1.38 million tonnes in the year ago period, the Solvent Extractors' Association of India said in a statement.
