District Co-ordination Officer Jamshoro Nasir Abbas Soomro has urged the health and union council officials to continue polio campaign and make full effort to eradicate polio from the district. The DCO had a meeting with health, union council secretaries and officials of other departments at his office to review the post polio campaign.
He further said that on the directives of President Zardari, national campaign for eradication of polio was started. Around 19 polio cases were reported in the province. He directed staff to continue fieldwork and make sure every child is vaccinated. Field staff should arrange corner and public meetings in different areas to motivate people to get their children vaccinated.
The DCO Jamshoro appreciated EDO Health Dr Munawar Shah and Dr Shahida Memon for their active role in the campaign against polio. He said that staff should perform their duties honestly otherwise stern action to be taken against them. According to policy guidelines, fieldstaff must go out in the field to administer polio drops to children. WHO Representative Dr Waqar Mehmood stressed the need for creating awareness among the masses about polio.
