Pervez Musharraf, former President of Pakistan and Chief of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) during his visit to Washington has stressed that US must address the concerns of Pakistan related to security and stability in Afghanistan following the withdrawal of US forces in 2014. The former president also demanded of the US to intervene to curb growing Indian influence in Afghanistan.
He further said, "In Afghanistan there is some kind of a conflict going on between Pakistan and India. India is trying to create an anti-Pakistan Afghanistan." The former president believed that this grand scheme is part of "India's vision of dominating the region".
He said that no one including the Haqqani network should be allowed to use Pakistani soil for any kind of operation against coalition forces in Afghanistan. However, he maintains that US needed to consider the sacrifices that the Pakistani nation had made to arrest the growth of the terrorist networks in the war on terror.
