Karachi situation: Mirza appeals to Army Chief for intervention

Dr Zulifqar Mirza, former senior minister of Sindh and Vice President PPP Sindh, has appealed to Army Chief General Ahfaq Pervaiz Kayani to intervene and protect innocent people of Karachi from the target killers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). He said that the government and judiciary did not take actions against the target killers and extortionists so the Army should intervene and go back to barracks only after completing operation against the criminals and target killers.
He said this while addressing a public meeting in Chakiwara area of Lyari town here on Friday. The public meeting was organised by the well wishers of Dr Mirza including the workers of some nationalist parties, MQM (Haqiqi) and others. He said that the country was facing threats not from external but from internal elements so innocent people had pinned their hopes on Army.
Dr Mirza once again alleged that Rehman Malik was misguiding President Asif Ali Zardari that if the target killers were arrested, the government would be dissolved. He said people of Punjab knew well about Rehman Malik so they did not accept him and he secured a Senate seat from Sindh.
Dr Mirza claimed that 15 target killers affiliated with MQM had been arrested in the past but Rehman Malik released them. He claimed that Ajmal Pahari had confessed of being mastermind of 10th Muharam blast and the video was also shown to Hyder Abbas Rizwi too.
He said that he had appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan for taking suo motu notice of Karachi killing, saying that whenever the apex court summoned him he would appear before it. He said that Rehman Malik had gone to Mardan House in order to 'make Shahi Syed fool.' He said that he did not need any security provided by Rehman Malik.
He accused Rehman Malik of being involved in money laundering and illegal transfer of money abroad. He further accused Malik of working on the agenda of his foreign bosses. He charged some prominent business tycoons that they gave extortion to MQM but accused some other of being involving in taking extortion.
Earlier, addressing people at Ghaghar railway crossing, Dr Mirza announced that he would launch protest movement against Babar Awan, Rehman Malik and Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad. He demanded removal of Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad as Governor of Sindh.
He said that he had said goodbye to parliamentary politics and would work to resolve the problems of Sindh and Sindhi people. He announced that he would sacrifice his life and every thing for the sake of truth. He urged people to support and back Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari if they wanted to see the country more developed.
He said that he had many secretes in his heart and would disclose them with the passage of time. "If MQM wants to shut my mouth, they should kill me," he added. He said that he was working for the protection of the people of Karachi from target killers and extortionists and for the purpose he had issued more than three lacs weapon licenses, which were not for using only in marriage ceremonies. He said that when he was in government, he had taken practical steps for the betterment of the people and never dreamed.
