Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) Secretary Information Haji Muhammad Ramzan has urged the rulers to take notice of the plight of the growers who at one hand are crushed due to high prices of fertiliser, electricity, fuel and pesticides and on the other due to delay in payment by the sugar millers and low prices of the cotton crop.
Haji Muhammad Ramzan was sharing his views with the growers during his visit to the flood-hit areas of Kasur here on Tuesday. He criticised that the rulers were busy in a tug of war just to save their rule while fertilizer manufacturers and utility companies were increasing prices of their utilities at their will to loot the farmers. He alleged that fertilizer manufacturers are selling their produce at their desired rates while cotton factories were also looting the growers by offering lower rates. Flood has also played havoc with the agricultural land.
KBP Central Information Secretary urged the government to make timely moves and support the flood hit growers. He said that the government should also take steps to bring down the prices of fertilisers and less application of fertilizer would result in lower sowing of wheat and other crops thus leading to food shortage.
He also appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of the plight of the growers and injustices of the fertiliser, sugar, cotton and rice dealers with the farmers. KBP Secretary Information also distributed Eid gifts among the growers of the flood-hit areas.
