The business community on Tuesday reiterated its concerns over the law and order situation in the city, stating that its was extremely upset by the assassination of Khalid Iqbal, a prominent industrialist, at I. I. Chundrigar Road. They urged the government to take practical steps and strict measures to control law and order situation in the city.
They strongly condemned the murder of Khalid Iqbal, saying that at a time when the government was carrying out surgical operation to nab criminals, the assassination of Khalid Iqbal at the busiest road is a reverse gear to all its efforts. "To get Karachiites rid of extortionists, government should take immediate and prompt actions," they said, adding that there was nothing like law and order in Karachi.
"The business community plays an important role in running the affairs of the country and the government should take special steps to protect businessmen from such incidents," they said. They demanded of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Home Secretary and IG Sindh to ensure arrest of the culprits behind the murder of the industrialist.
In a statement, Acting President, Karachi Chamber of Commerce Industry (KCCI) Talat Mahmood has expressed profound grief and deep concern over the assassination of Khalid Iqbal, prominent industrialist and owner of Quetta Textiles, at I.I. Chundrigar Road on Tuesday.

He said that the criminal elements brutally murdered Khalid Iqbal on the busiest road and snatched away millions of rupees. He said that during the month of Ramadan, the illicit activities of extortion, murder and street crimes were unparalleled.
