Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has appealed to the people of Karachi to cooperate with the provincial government in its efforts to restore peace in the city. In his message to nation on Eid-ul-Fitr, the prime minister said the government is determined to apprehend the perpetrators of violence and bring them to justice.
He extended felicitations to the people of Pakistan and the Pakistani expatriate community on the auspicious and blessed occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Gilani said this festival falls on the conclusion of sacred month of Ramazan is Allah's special blessing for the Muslims in terms of happiness who kept fasts for one month and dedicated themselves to His remembrance in piety and worship.
He said Eid-ul-Fitr provides an opportunity to share the happiness with one another to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood. He said the essence of Islamic teachings encompasses the individual and collective life of man in its entirety. Gilani said it is a matter of satisfaction and pride that the Muslims of Pakistan are celebrating Islamic festival with the spirit of love, compassion and tolerance.
He said including underprivileged and disadvantaged sections of society in happiness of Eid is a national and Islamic duty. He said the scourges of terrorism and extremism had posed serious problems to the state and society. The prime minister said killing of innocent people was contrary to the spirit of Islamic teachings and the message of Eid-ul-Fitr.
