Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan on Monday demanded immediate removal of Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, besides suspending his Senate membership after he was nabbed by top PPP leader Zulfikar Mirza for Karachi unrest. Mirza, a top PPP leader and a close confidant of President Asif Ali Zardari had warned if anything bad happened to Pakistan, Rehman Malik would be held responsible as he is not sincere for the country.
In a statement, PTI Chief said that the allegations levelled against Rehman Malik are of severe nature, which must be taken very seriously and he should come forward and explain the allegations levelled against him by none other than a senior party colleague. He accused Rehman Malik of being a congenital liar and of having a hand in the ongoing violence in Karachi. Mirza said that Malik had played a part in the deaths of thousands of people mainly through his efforts to strike a deal with the MQM and that his interventions in Karachi had made it impossible for him [Mirza] to try and re-impose law and order.
Imran said that exiled Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain had serious allegations on him, which need to be investigated by a sitting judge of Supreme Court. The allegations against Altaf Hussain of conspiring against the country, he said, are very serious, which could not be ignored.
The PPP stalwart, by holding a copy of the Holy Quran in his hand - rather over his head most of the time - and emphasising had said that he would give evidence of what was really happening in Karachi. Mirza said MQM chief Altaf Hussain was directly ordering the deaths in the city and was engaged in a plot with the US to break up the country.
