A ship mv Ioanthi, carrying 19,506 tons of urea, imported by Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP), is scheduled to reach Port Qasim on Monday. Another ship, mv Hyderabad, carrying 35,000 tons of urea is expected to reach Gwadar Port on August 27, 2011. The arrival of imported of urea is part of the efforts made by the TCP to make sure sufficient availability of urea for the on-going crop season.
The shipment arriving by mv Ioanthi relates to TCP's tender awarded to Multicommerce LLC USA. The other vessel, mv Hyderabad, is carrying urea being supplied by Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic), under a Saudi Fund for Development credit facility. This quantity is in addition to the 50,000 tons urea already supplied by Sabic during July, 2011 under the same arrangement.
Total quantity of urea imported by TCP for Kharif 2011 so far works out to about 180,000 tons.
In addition to above, under the special instructions of the government, the TCP has issued another tender for immediate import of 150,000 tons urea, which is scheduled to be opened on Monday, August 22, 2011, requiring shipments at early dates.-PR
